The brother of Kalpana Chakma, who was abducted in 1996, rejected a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) report on her abduction and demanded a judicial inquiry on Sunday.
Kalindi Kumar Chakma made the demand during the hearing, over the disappearance of Kalpana, in the court of the Judicial Magisatrate Mohammad Sirajuddaula Kutubi.
When the CID submitted the report, the judge fixed Jan 16 to issue the verdict in the case, the plaintiff’s lawyer Jewel Dewan said.
Kalpana, the Organising Secretary of the Hill Women's Federation (HWF), was abducted from his house at Baghaichharhi in Rangamati on Jun 12, 1996, and there are allegations of army involvement in the case.
The police submitted the findings of the incident in the court in 2010. As the victim's family submitted a no-confidence petition on the investigation report, the court ordered the CID to probe into the matter.
