He lives in a different time and he is not a Martin Luther King. Yet he has a dream. Dream to see all kids go to school.

But having a dream is one thing and living it is quite another. And he knew it. Himself being a masters student from a poor family, he realised he could not do it alone. So he shared his dream with two of his college mates who immediately joined hands.

Together they set up a school in January last year in Patuakhali town where they teach underprivileged, working children, mostly from slums, for free. The three friends -- Aminul Islam, Abdur Razzak and Nazma Akhter -- also provide books, notebooks and pens for all the 64 students. The money comes from their income from private tuition.

Most of these children, aged between five and 14, are engaged in various kinds of work ranging from paper picking to hawking at launch and bus terminals to support their families.

In this poor neighbourhood, there are government schools within walking distance where primary education is free and education materials are also distributed for free. But the families of these children are too poor to afford even the examination fees or a decent garment for their kids. So they chose to send their children to seek a living instead.

“This struck me. And then I had this idea that if these children get a little education, they will be able to earn more," says Aminul Islam, “then I dreamt of setting up a school for these kids.”

The one-room school -- Sromojibi O Shishu Shikkhaloy -- set up at Sher-e-Bangla Town Hall building offers informal education and does not follow any specific curriculum. Classes are held in two shifts -- from 6:00am to 8:30am and from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, six days a week. To discourage dropouts, the children are given tiffin twice a week.

Since its opening, the total cost of the school stands at Tk 50,000. Of the amount, Tk 40,000 was spent on purchasing education materials and furniture and Tk 10,000 on buying tiffin for the children, said Aminul.

All the money came from the trio's income from private tuition save for Tk 2,500 which was donated by Enamul Haque, chairman of Big Energy, a local NGO. Another NGO, Friends and Society, gave a board and two tables.

“We decided to do it with our own money," says Aminul.

On hearing of the idea, Abdul Mannan, an assistant imam at a local mosque, lent a helping hand. He is a part-time teacher there and offers his service when any of his three friends is sick or cannot come to the school for any other reason.

However, an uphill task lay ahead after the school was set up. As the parents of these children are extremely poor, they are more interested in sending their kids to work. So the three friends went from house to house to convince the parents and managed to get 28 students at the start. More students started to come form the second month.

“We thought that with education these children would be able to earn more and lead a better life," said Nazma, the female teacher.

She is a graduate student at Patuakhali Govt College, where Aminul and Razzak also study.

“We should do whatever we can to build a better Bangladesh. If we do, our society will be a better place," Nazma added.

Six-year-old Ibrahim, whose father is a rickshaw puller, said, “Previously, I was working at a furniture shop to support my family. But now I am studying here and also working at the shop."

Mannan, a day labourer, said he was delighted at the idea that his child can learn something at the school in the morning and work during the day.

Asked about their future plan, Aminul said he and his two friends were now able to offer free service and spare a portion of their income as they were still students.

"I'm really worried about the future of the initiative unless someone comes forward with help," he told this correspondent.

Contacted, Patuakhali Municipal Mayor Shafiqul Islam said it was "good initiative" to the benefit of many poor children in the area.

"I have already a plan and I will see if the school can get any help from the municipality," said the mayor, also a physician.

Civic groups organise solidarity and protest gathering against recent Ramu communal violence demanding “a non-communal and racial discrimination-free Bangladesh”

On 19 October 2012 at 3.00 pm, civic rights group organised citizen solidarity and protest gathering and cultural programme against recent communal and racial attack in Ramu and other areas of Cox’s Bazar. The demonstration was held by citizens group of all walks of life under the banner of “We want non-communal and racial discrimination-free Bangladesh” in front of the Swoparjito Swadhinota Chattar of Teacher-Student Centre in Dhaka University.

The citizens’ rally called for restoring confidence of the religious and ethnic minorities and a judicial probe into the incidents as the government’s probe failed to identify the real culprits behind such heinous attack. The demonstration demanded visible punishment for the perpetrators of the attack and the local administration for failing to take appropriate measures to contain such attack. Speakers at the gathering demanded banning political use of religion and developing the public administration and the national curricula based on secularism.

Presided over by eminent columnist and researcher Syed Abul Maqsud, the event was addressed by
convener of Gono Oikya Committee Mr. Pankaj Bhattacharya, vice chancellor of Jahangirnagar University (JU) Prof Anwar Hossain, organising secretary of PCJSS Mr. Shakti Pada Tripura, general secretary of Shammilito Sangskritik Jote Mr. Golam Quddus, presidium member of Communist Party of Bangladesh Mr. Samsuzzaman Selim,  Buddhist monk Dhorma Mitra, general secretary of Bangladesh Indigenous Peoples Forum Sanjeeb Drong, presidium member of Workers’ Party of Bangladesh Mr. Fazle Hossain Badshah MP, chairman of Shammilito San! gskritik Anlodon Ajay Roy, managing editor of daily Somokal Mr. Abu Sayeed Khan et al.

Eminent columnist Syed Abul Maksud said the progressive citizen wanted to see Bangladesh as a secular country in the world. But it is completely failed to be secular, not moderate Muslim country. Such failure led to continuous attacks on religious and ethnic minorities and their places of worship, he said. He however hoped that the government would take necessary actions to prove his doubt wrong.

Mr. Pankaj Bhattacharya also accused that it is a pre-planned attack on indigenous and minority people. He urged the government to take immediate action against those involved with the brutal attacks on innocent civilians.

Jahangirnagar University vice-chancellor, Anwar Hossain, laid stress on identifying the factors behind such attacks. He condemned the failure of the state machinery and questioned their functionality. The constitution was secular when Bangladesh was born. But it had been turned a communal one by the military rulers and it still remains the same. The constitution needs to be freed from communalism, he said.

Organising secretary of PCJSS, Shaktipada Tripura, said that these incidents were pre-planned backed by vested interest group from administration and political forces. A powerful axis which always remained invisible was behind the recent attacks in Ramu, Ukhia, Teknaf and Patiya and the attacks on Jumma people in Rangamati. The prevailing state of impunity encourages them to carry on such attacks repeatedly, he said. He also criticised government for following delay-dallying tactics.

Mr. Golam Quddus alleged the recent communal attacks on Buddhist community and indigenous people in different places including Rangamati were pre-planned which was supported by law enforcement and intelligence agencies. He said indigenous people and minority people need to be self determining to keep their existence as well as protect their security by integrating progressive power in near future.

Buddhist monk Dharma Mitra Mahastabir claimed that these incidents and arson attacks to temples did not demolish only historical proof by doers; they also tried to kill peace and delight among religious minority and indigenous communities. It is a conspiracy to destroy religious minority and indigenous people from this country. So, all progressive, democratic and secular powers should move forward together.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Indigenous Peoples Forum Mr. Sanjeeb Drong said that minority and indigenous peoples did not receive any justice after having many communal attacks in past, that’s why the criminals are enjoying their crimes openly. He urged civil society to stand against fundamentalism.

Samsujjaman Selim said, “We want to see main culprits in court for punishment. The fundamentalist did not attack only Buddhist community, they attacked on progressive people’s mind. Indigenous people and other minority community should work collectively to keep maintain their existence against fundamentalism.”

Fazle Hossain Badshah MP said that it is a conspiracy by fundamentalists to damage indigenous and other minority communities’ culture, values in Bangladesh. The current communal attack will pose as a hindrance to address and establish democracy across the country. “We demand justice against recent communal attack and government should form a judicial inquiry committee to probe the communal violence” he added.

Teacher of mass communication and journalism department of Dhaka University Dr. Kaberi Gayen read out a declaration of the citizen solidarity and demonstration. The Programme was conducted by vice chairperson of Kapaeeng Foundation Dipayon Khisa and teacher of Dhaka University Apchadul Alam. A famous singer Kafil Ahmed Khan, Mita Haque and artists of Chayanat performed protest song and artists of Mukthodara recited revolutionary poems. Renowned intellectual Mr. Sardar Fazlul Karim, Mukthijuddo Jadughor Trusty Member Tarek Ali, IED Executive Director Numan Ahmed Khan, Dhaka University Associate Professor Shantanu Majumder, Dr. Shapan Adnan, Oxfam representative Saikat Biswas expressed their solidarity for religious minority as well as indigenous peoples.

Rab personnel early Thursday recovered a bronze statue of Lord Buddha from Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar which was looted during the September 29 midnight attack on Buddhists in the upazila.

It is the first case of recovering looted Buddha statue after the violent attack on the minority community in Ramu, Ukhia, and Teknaf of Cox's Bazar and Patiya in Chittagong, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent.

None was arrested in connection with the recovery.

On the night of September 29, a mob destroyed 18 Buddhist temples and monasteries and more than 50 houses in Ramu. The violence was apparently triggered by a Facebook posting of a photo defaming the holy Quran.

Several hundreds of Buddha statues were looted from different temples and monasteries during the mayhem.

Md Zahir Uddin, deputy assistant director of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) Cox's Bazar office, said they found the statue weighing 565 grams lying abandoned at Ramu-Naikhongchhari road in Zaruliachhari area, eight kilometers off Ramu Sadar upazila and two km off Naikhongchhari upazila in Bandarban.

As part of a drive to recover the looted statues and arrest the culprits involved in the violence, they conducted the raid and found the statue around 4:00am, the Rab official said.

রামুর লুট হওয়া বুদ্ধমূর্তি উদ্ধার

কক্সবাজারের রামুতে বৌদ্ধ বসতি ও মন্দিরে হামলার সময় লুট হওয়া একটি বুদ্ধমূর্তি উদ্ধার করেছে র‌্যাব। আজ বৃহস্পতিবার দুপুর ১২টার দিকে রামু উপজেলার কচ্ছপিয়া ইউনিয়নের জারুলতলা সেতু থেকে পরিত্যাক্ত অবস্থায় র‌্যাব-৭ এর একটি দল তা উদ্ধার করে। 

র‌্যাব-৭ এর একজন কর্মকর্তা জানান, ১২ সেন্টিমিটার উচ্চতার এবং ৫৬৫ গ্রাম ওজনের বুদ্ধমূর্তিটি পরিত্যক্ত অবস্থায় উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে। 

উল্লেখ্য, গত ২৯ সেপ্টেম্বর রাতে কোরআন অবমাননার অভিযোগে কক্সবাজারের রামুতে বৌদ্ধ বসতি ও মন্দিরে অগ্নিসংযোগ, ভাংচুর ও লুটপাট চালানো হয়। এরপর চট্টগ্রামের পটিয়া ও কক্সবাজারের টেকনাফ ও উখিয়ায় একইভাবে হামলা হয়। রামুতে হামলার এ মূর্তিটি লুট করা হয়েছিল।

সাম্প্রদায়িক সম্প্রীতির স্বপ্ন রামুর বৌদ্ধদের

আবার গড়ে উঠছে বাড়িঘর ও মন্দির রাতের আঁধারে ধর্মীয় উগ্রপন্থীদের আগুনে হারানো বাড়িঘর ও মন্দির গড়ে উঠছে আবার রামুতে। আগের মতো সম্প্রীতির সঙ্গে বসবাসের স্বপ্ন এই বৌদ্ধ ধর্মাবলম্বীদের। কক্সবাজারের রামু উপজেলার ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত বৌদ্ধরা ফের তাদের বসতঘর নির্মাণের কাজ শুরু করেছেন। শিগগিরই শুরু হবে তিগ্রস্ত বৌদ্ধ বিহার পুনর্নির্মাণের কাজ। প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনাসহ সরকারের উচ্চ পর্যায়ের কর্মকর্তারা সহযোগিতার হাত বাড়িয়ে দেয়ায় আবারো শান্তি ও সম্প্রীতির সঙ্গে বেঁচে থাকার স্বপ্ন দেখছেন তারা। এই প্রত্যাশা ব্যক্ত করেন ওই অঞ্চলের সর্বোচ্চ ধর্মীয় গুরু ও রামু কেন্দ্রীয় সীমা বিহারের অধ্যক্ষ পণ্ডিত সত্যপ্রিয় মহাথেরো। তিনি বলেন, বিপথগামীরা একদিন ঠিকই তাদের ভুল বুঝতে পারবে। তারা দেশের ইতিহাস-ঐতিহ্য-কৃষ্টির কতটুকু ক্ষতি করেছে তা ভাষায় প্রকাশ করা যাবে না। খবর বিডিনিউজের।

ফেইসবুকে কোরআন অবমাননার অভিযোগে গত ২৯ সেপ্টেম্বর রাতে রামুতে ধর্মীয় উগ্রপন্থীরা সাতটি বৌদ্ধ বিহার ও ২৪টি বসতঘরে আগুন দেয়। ওই সময় শতাধিক ঘরবাড়ি ও দোকানে ভাঙচুর চালানো হয়। ওই হামলায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্তদের কেউ কেউ কাঠ আর বাঁশের বেড়া দিয়ে বসতবাড়ি তৈরিতে ব্যস্ত রয়েছেন। আবার অনেককে দেখা গেছে, ইটের বাড়ি তৈরির নির্মাণ সামগ্রী জড়ো করতে। সরকারের পাশাপাশি অনেক সহৃদয় ব্যক্তিও হামলায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্তদের পাশে দাঁড়িয়েছেন বলে জানান তারা।

হামলার পরদিনই রামুতে যান স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী মহীউদ্দীন খান আলমগীর ও শিল্পমন্ত্রী দিলীপ বড়ুয়া। এরপর প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনাসহ সরকারের অনেক ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তা সেখানে যান। সান্ত্বনার পাশাপাশি ক্ষতিগ্রস্তদের উঠে দাঁড়ানোর জন্য আর্থিক সহযোগিতা দেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী। পরিদর্শনের সময় আগুনে পোড়া প্রতি বাড়ির মালিককে দুই লাখ টাকা এবং ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত প্রত্যেককে এক লাখ টাকা করে দেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী। পাশাপাশি পুড়ে যাওয়া বৌদ্ধ মন্দিরগুলো পুনর্নির্মাণের জন্য সেনাবাহিনীর ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং কোরকে দায়িত্ব দেন তিনি।

রামুর বৌদ্ধ ঐক্য ও কল্যাণ পরিষদ ও কেন্দ্রীয় সীমা বিহার পরিচালনা কমিটির সাধারণ সম্পাদক তরুণ বড়ুয়া বলেন,সেনাবাহিনী, বিজিবি ও স্থানীয় প্রশাসন পুনর্নির্মাণ কাজ সার্বক্ষণিক তদারক করছে। সেনা সদস্যরা ইতোমধ্যে মন্দিরের নকশা,পরিমাপসহ প্রাথমিক কাজ সম্পন্ন করে নির্মাণ সামগ্রী ভস্মীভূত বৌদ্ধ বিহার প্রাঙ্গণে আনা শুরু করেছে। আগামী ২৯ অক্টোবর বৌদ্ধদের অন্যতম ধর্মীয় অনুষ্ঠান প্রবারণা পূর্ণিমার পরদিন থেকে ধর্মীয় আচার অনুষ্ঠান পালনের মধ্য দিয়ে বিহার পুনর্নির্মাণের কাজ শুরু হবে বলে জানান ওই এলাকার বাসিন্দা দর্পণ বড়ুয়া। রামু প্রেসক্লাবের সাধারণ সম্পাদক সুনীল বড়ুয়া বলেন, সহিংসতার পর সরকারি-বেসরকারী পর্যায়ে অনেকে সহযোগিতার হাত বাড়িয়ে দেয়ায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্তরা আবার উঠে দাঁড়াচ্ছে। এলাকায় সাম্প্রদায়িক সম্প্রীতি ফিরিয়ে আনা জরুরি বলে মনে করেন তিনি।

Matia slams Khaleda for not visiting Ramu

But she didn't visit Ramu (that lies a short distance away)," she said. She made the comment while distributing special VGF rice and winter clothes among the poor at Gouradar Union Parishad Bhavan of her electoral constituency in Nakla upazila in Sherpurdistrict. "The Opposition Leader recently visited China and is scheduled to visit neighbouring India soon. But she didn't visit Ramu (that lies a short distance away)," she said. She made the comment while distributing special VGF rice and winter clothes among the poor at Gouradar Union Parishad Bhavan of her electoral constituency in Nakla upazila in Sherpur district. Incensed apparently by a Facebook posting of a photo defaming the Quran, religious fanatics destroyed 12 Buddhist temples and monasteries and more than 100 houses in Ramu, Ukhiya and Teknaf upazilas of Cox's Bazaar and Patiya upazila in Chittagong from Sep 29 night to noon the next day. BNP Chairperson Khaleda strongly condemned the heinous attacks and had said that she would visit the scenes of the sectarian violence after her China visit. The former prime Minister will pay a week-long visit to Indian from Oct 28 at the invitation of the Indian government.Matia said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina could not visit the scene right away since she was in the US to attend the 67th United Nations General Assembly. "But she had directed the Home Minister to visit the spots and strictly handle the situation. On her return, the Prime Minister went to Ramu and took measures to rehabilitee the victims, ensure their security and bring the culprits to justice." The ruling Awami League leaders have been blaming local BNP lawmaker Lutfur Rahman Kajal of instigating the violence in Ramu 29. Govt reviews latest situation

An inter-ministerial meeting yesterday reviewed the latest situation in Buddhist community in Cox's Bazar and Chittagong after the recent attack on them and discussed the progress of relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction works.

The meeting, held at the foreign ministry, was attended by senior officials of several ministries among others.

Foreign ministry called the meeting to review the situation for briefing in different international forums, said sources.

The meeting was informed that 21 cases have been lodged in Ramu, Tekhnaf, Ukhia and Naikhyangchhari and 234 arrests have been made.

The meeting was told that construction works of houses are going on full-swing and the law and order situation is under full control of the local administration.

MKA sees national, int'l plots

Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir has blamed “national and international conspiracies” for the attack on Buddhists last month.

"Local and international conspiracies were behind the communal attacks on the Buddhist community in Ramu, Ukhia and Teknaf upazilas in Cox's Bazar," Alamgir told the news agency on Monday.

"Those who masterminded the attacks will be put on trial,” he said.

The minister said he reviewed the probe report with 11 recommendations submitted to the home ministry on Thursday.

"Most of the recommendations have been accepted, and directives have been given to the officials concerned to take necessary actions," he said in reply to a question.

Considering the size and terrain of Cox's Bazar district, the number of police force has been increased there, he said.

Alamgir said committees, comprising members of all communities, will be formed for an indefinite period at different tiers, including union, upazila and district levels.

The committees will take steps to prevent repeat of such violence, he added.

মঈনুল হক চৌধুরী জ্যেষ্ঠ প্রতিবেদক ঢাকা, অক্টোবর ২৪ (বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকম)- নিবন্ধন নেয়ার চার বছরেও গঠনতন্ত্র সংশোধন না করায় চতুর্থবারের মতো জামায়াতে ইসলামীকে তাগিদ দিচ্ছে নির্বাচন কমিশন (ইসি)। এক বছরের মধ্যে প্রয়োজনীয় সংশোধনী আনতে না পারলে আগামী নির্বাচনে দলটির অংশগ্রহণ ঝুঁকিতে পড়তে পারে। কাজী রকিবউদ্দীন আহমদের নেতৃত্বাধীন ইসি গঠনের আট মাস পর নিবন্ধিত রাজনৈতিক দলের গঠনতন্ত্র পর্যালোচনা শুরু করেছে। নির্বাচন কমিশনার মোহাম্মদ আবদুল মোবারক বুধবার বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকমকে জানান, জামায়াতে ইসলামীর গঠনতন্ত্র সংশোধনের বিষয়ে দুই বছর আগে বিগত কমিশন সর্বশেষ তাগিদ দিয়েছিল। এরপর আর কোনো কিছু করা হয়নি। “সিইসি এখন সব দলের নথিপত্র পর্যালোচনা করছেন। জামায়াতে ইসলামীকে তাদের গঠনতন্ত্র সংশোধনে তাগিদ দিয়ে পত্র দেয়ার প্রস্তুতি চলছে।” রাজনৈতিক দলের নিবন্ধন বিধিমালা অনুযায়ী প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থা নিতে শুধু জামায়াত নয়, অসঙ্গতি ধরা পড়লে অন্য দলকেও তা সংশোধনের জন্য বলা হবে বলে জানান মোবারক। এই বিষয়ে জামায়াতে ইসলামীর কেন্দ্রীয় নেতা ও সংসদ সদস্য হামিদুর রহমান আযাদ বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকমকে বলেন, “নিবন্ধনের শর্ত পালনে দলীয় গঠনতন্ত্রে কোনো সংশোধন বাদ আছে বলে আমার জানা নেই। “আগে ইসির চিঠি আসুক, তারপর তা পর্যালোচনা করে দলীয় ফোরামে ব্যবস্থা নেয়া যাবে।” আইন অনুযায়ী, সংসদ নির্বাচনে অংশ নিতে হলে নিবন্ধন বাধ্যতামূলক। বিগত ইসির সময়ে এই প্রক্রিয়া শুরু হয়। এটিএম শামসুল হুদা নেতৃত্বাধীন ইসি প্রথমে ৩৯টি দলকে নিবন্ধন দিলেও গঠনতন্ত্র সংশোধন না করায় ফ্রিডম পার্টির নিবন্ধন বাতিল করে। বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকম/এমএইচসি/এমআই/২২২৫ ঘ. http://www.bdnews24.com/bangla/details.php?cid=3&id=208865&hb=top ‘খালেদা চীন-ভারত যেতে পারেন, যেতে পারেন না রামুতে’ Wed, Oct 24th, 2012 5:15 pm BdST   শেরপুর, অক্টোবর ২৪ (বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকম)- রামুকে সাম্প্রদায়িক সন্ত্রাসের শিকার বৌদ্ধদের সহমর্মিতা জানাতে বিরোধীদলীয় নেতা খালেদা জিয়ার না যাওয়ার সমালোচনা করেছেন কৃষিমন্ত্রী মতিয়া চৌধুরী। তিনি বুধবার নিজের নির্বাচনী এলাকা শেরপুরের নকলায় এক অনুষ্ঠানে বলেন, “বিরোধী নেতা চীন সফর করেছেন, আবার ভারত সফরে যাচ্ছেন। কিন্তু বাড়ির কাছে আরশী নগর রামুতে তিনি যাননি।” গত ২৯ ডিসেম্বর রামুতে বৌদ্ধ বসতিতে হামলা চালায় ধর্মীয় উগ্রপন্থীরা। ওই ঘটনার নিন্দা জানিয়ে বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসন বিবৃতি দিয়ে বলেন, চীন থেকে ফিরে তিনি ঘটনাস্থলে যাবেন। তবে এখন পর্যন্ত তার রামু সফরের কোনো কর্মসূচি আসেনি। ২৮ অক্টোবর তার ভারত যাওয়ার কথা রয়েছে। মতিয়া বলেন, “ঘটনার সময় প্রধানমন্ত্রী জাতিসংঘে থাকায় যেতে পারেননি। কিন্তু স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রীকে সেখানে গিয়ে কঠোরভাবে পরিস্থিতি মোকাবেলা করার নির্দেশ দেন। দেশে ফিরেই প্রধানমন্ত্রী রামুতে গিয়ে ক্ষতিগ্রস্তদের পুনর্বাসন, সেখানে নিরাপত্তা বিধান এবং দোষীদের খুঁজে বের করা ব্যবস্থা নিয়েছেন।” রামুর ঘটনার জন্য আওয়ামী লীগের বিভিন্ন নেতা সেখানকার বিএনপিদলীয় সংসদ সদস্য লুৎফর রহমান কাজলকে দায়ী করে বক্তব্য দেয়ায় বিরোধী দলের অভিযোগ, সরকার রাজনৈতিক প্রতিহিংসা নিয়ে কাজ করছে। আওয়ামী লীগের সভাপতিমণ্ডলীর সদস্য মতিয়া বলেন, “রাজনৈতিক প্রতিহিংসা চরিতার্থ করার জন্য নয়, ভিডিও ক্লিপি দেখে দেখে, যারা অগ্নিসংযোগ ও লুটপাট করেছেন, তাদের ধরা হচ্ছে।” বুধবার বিকালে কৃষিমন্ত্রী নকলার গৌরদ্বার ইউনিয়নে ঈদুল আজহা উপলক্ষে দুস্থদের মধ্যে ভিজিএফের চাল ও শীতবস্ত্র বিতরণ করেন। ওই অনুষ্ঠানেই রামুর ঘটনা নিয়ে কথা বলেন তিনি। বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকম/প্রতিনিধি/এমআই/১৭০৭ ঘ. http://www.bdnews24.com/bangla/details.php?id=208834&cid=3 ধর্ম ব্যবসায়ীরা কক্সবাজার কে ‘রোহিঙ্গা রাজ্য’ বানানোর জন্য উঠে পড়ে লেগেছে!! মঙ্গলবার ২৩ অক্টোবর ২০১২, সকাল ১১:৪৮  ক্যাটাগরী: আইন-শৃংখলা  শুনলে কিছুটা দৃষ্টি কটু মনে হতে পারে। কিন্তু এটাই বাস্তব। কেন না, বৃহত্তর কক্সবাজার অঞ্চলে এই মুহূর্তে মানবাধিকারের নামে রোহিঙ্গা সলিডারিটি অর্গানাইজেশন আরএসও, আরাকান রোহিঙ্গা ন্যাশনাল অর্গানাইজেশন আরনো, ইত্তিহাদ আল তাল্লুব আল মুসলেমিন আইটিএম, এমএসএফ হল্যান্ড, এসিএফ, মুসলিম এইড-ইউকে, ভার্ক, আরটিআই, রিভ ও সেভ দ্য চিলড্রেন এই ১০টি সংগঠনের পৃষ্ঠপোষকতায় দিনকে দিন বেপরোয়া হয়ে উঠছে সাড়ে চার লাখ রোহিঙ্গা। হাত বাড়ালেই বাংলাদেশি পাসপোর্ট পেয়ে যাচ্ছে রোহিঙ্গারা। ভুয়া ঠিকানা সংবলিত পাসপোর্ট ভিসা নিয়ে মধ্যপ্রাচ্যসহ বিভিন্ন দেশে পাড়ি জমানো রোহিঙ্গাদের কারণে বাংলাদেশ থেকে জনশক্তি নেওয়াই বন্ধ করে দিয়েছে কয়েকটি দেশ। বাংলাদেশি পাসপোর্ট ব্যবহার করে এই রোহিঙ্গা মুসলিমরা দেশের সীমা পেরিয়ে বিদেশেও ছড়িয়ে পড়ছে । বিদেশে রোহিঙ্গাদের অপকর্মের দায়ভার নিতে হচ্ছে বাংলাদেশকে। অতি সম্প্রতি কক্সবাজারের রামু ও উখিয়ার বৌদ্ধপল্লীতে হামলার নেপথ্যে রোহিঙ্গাদের জড়িত থাকার বিষয়টি এখন ওই অঞ্চলের ওপেন সিক্রেট এখন গল্পে পরিণীত হয়েছে। বিশ্বাস করতে কস্ট হচ্ছে সবকিছু বোঝার পরও কিসের বদইন্যতায় সরকার বা প্রশাসন রহস্যজনকভাবে নীরব। সরকার বা তাদের প্রেরিত প্রশাসন এই দ্বায়ভার এড়াতে পারবে না। সরকারের মনে রাখা প্রয়োজন একটি ধর্মান্ধ ধর্ম ব্যবসায়ী গুষ্ঠী বৃহত্তর কক্সবাজার কে ‘রোহিঙ্গা রাজ্য’ বানানোর জন্য উঠে পড়ে লেগেছে। বাংলাদেশের এই ধর্মীয় গুষ্ঠীর সাথে মিয়ানমারের কয়েকটি জঙ্গিগোষ্ঠীর সুসম্পর্ক রয়েছে। যার দরুন খুব সহজে রোহিঙ্গারা কক্সবাজারের টেকনাফ ও উখিয়ায় কর্মরত কয়েকটি বিদেশি এনজিওর মাধ্যমে এই অঞ্চলে অনুপ্রবেশ ও অশান্তি সৃষ্টির মাধ্যমে অস্থিতিশীল পরিস্থিতি সৃষ্টি করে যাচ্ছে। দেশী বিদেশী কিছু জার্নাল বা ওয়েবসাইট ঘাটলে দেখা যাবে গত কয়েক বছর ধরে মিয়ানমার সরকার তাদের সীমান্তবর্তী রোহিঙ্গা অধ্যুষিত গুচ্ছগ্রামগুলো এবং খালি জায়গায় রাবার চাষের প্রকল্প শুরু করেছে। আর এজন্য ওই গ্রামগুলো তে পর্যায়ক্রমে রোহিঙ্গাদের উপর মিয়ানমার সরকার অত্যাচার বাড়িয়ে দিয়েছে যাতে করে মিয়ানমারে নির্যাতিত হয়ে রোহিঙ্গারা বাংলাদেশে চলে আসে। একই সঙ্গে মিয়ানমার সরকার আরাকানে রোহিঙ্গা অধ্যুসিত গ্রামগুলোর কিছু কিছু জায়গায় মিয়ানমারের অন্য অংশ থেকে স্থানীয় লোকজন এনে বসবাসের সুযোগ করে দিচ্ছে। আর এইজন্য দেখা দিয়েছে সাপরদায়িক সহিংসতা। পুড়ছে ঘর বাড়ি, নির্যাতন করছে রোহিঙ্গাদের উপর। উদ্দেশ্য একটাই যা এইখান থেকে চলে যা। বাংলাদেশে গিয়ে আস্তানা কর। পত্রিকা মাধ্যমে জানতে পারলাম, যুক্তরাষ্ট্র প্রবাসী জইনক ড.ওয়াকার উদ্দীন নামের এক বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় শিক্ষকের নেতৃত্বে ১০ সদস্য বিশিষ্ট একটি দল বাংলাদেশে রোহিঙ্গাদের জন্য কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন দেশে তারা রোহিঙ্গাদের জন্য লবিং নিয়োগ করেছে যাতে করে রোহিঙ্গা বিষয়ে বাংলাদেশ সরকার নমনীয় হয় এবং প্রত্যাগত এইসব রোহিঙ্গাদের কে যেন বাংলাদেশ সরকার বাংলাদেশে বৈধ ভাবে থাকতে দেয়। উল্লেখ্য ড.ওয়াকার নিজেও রোহিঙ্গা বংশোদ্ভূত। ভিবিন্ন মাধ্যম থেকে জানতে পেরেছি আইটিএম নামের একটি সংগঠন ইতোমধ্যে চট্টগ্রাম বিভাগে তাদের কার্যক্রমের বিস্তার ঘটিয়েছে। মিয়ানমারের ইউনাইটেড মুসলিম স্টুডেন্ট অ্যাসোসিয়েশন এর সহযোগিতায় বাংলাদেশের এখন বাংলাদেশের ধর্ম ব্যবসায়ী গুষ্ঠীর তত্ত্বাবধানে আইটিএম কক্সবাজার সহ চট্টগ্রাম বিভাগের বিভিন্ন এলাকায় রোহিঙ্গাদের স্থায়ী ভাবে বসবাস করার নিমিত্তে বাংলাদেশ সরকার কে বাধ্য করতে কাজ করছে। এই সংগঠনটির লক্ষ্য যে কোনো মূল্যে এ দেশে রোহিঙ্গাদের অবস্থান ধরে রাখা। এবং স্থায়ী ভাবে বসবাস করার অনুমতি নেওয়া। পোস্টের প্রাসঙ্গিক উল্লেখ্য যে বর্তমানে কক্সবাজারের মোট জনসংখ্যা ২২ লাখ ৫৭ হাজার ৯৫৭ জন। এরমধ্যে রোহিঙ্গা সাড়ে চার লাখের উপরে। টেকনাফের নয়াপাড়া এবং উখিয়া কুতুপালং শরণার্থী ক্যাম্পে রেজিস্টার্ড রোহিঙ্গা শরণার্থীর সংখ্যা মাত্র ৩০ হাজার ২২৫ জন। সুত্র: কক্সবাজার জেলা প্রশাসন। আরেকটা বিষয়ে তথ্য শেয়ার করছি, বর্তমানে কক্সবাজারের প্রায় ৮০ শতাংশ মসজিদের ইমাম রোহিঙ্গা। এসব ইমাম বিভিন্ন মাদ্রাসার ছাত্রদের ইসলামের ভুল ব্যাখ্যা করে জিহাদ সংশ্লিষ্ট উগ্রপন্থা সম্পর্কে শিক্ষা দিচ্ছে। যা আমাদের দিচ্ছে রামুর বৌদ্ধ মন্দিরের ঘটে যাওয়া সাম্প্রদায়িক গঠনার জন্মদান। আর তাই এখনি প্রয়োজন সরকারের প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ না হলে হয়তো বা একদিন না একদিন বৃহত্তর কক্সবাজার হয়ে যাবে রোহিঙ্গাদের স্বপ্নের সেই নগরী রোহিঙ্গা রাজ্য। ধন্যবাদ। @সুলতান মির্জা।
