Stop atrocities and Islamic fundamentalism on Buddhist Communities in Bangladesh

This is our heart expression and we would like to draw the attention of local and international communities around the world concerning on brutal attack carried out by Muslim extremist upon Buddhist peoples in midnight September 29, 2012 at Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh. The brutal attack is completely pre-planned by Muslim extremists that caused to extreme outrage such as killing, torturing, raping, damaging, looting, burning the Buddhist Monasteries and destroying the holy Buddha statues as well setting fire on houses of Buddhist community in Bangladesh. In this brutal attack, the Muslim extremists killed 7 Buddhist peoples including a Buddhist monk, tortured 40 peoples seriously and at least 11 villages, 75 shops, 12 Buddhist monasteries including a Christian church were completely destroyed by the bengali Muslim extremists at Ramu and Ukhiyain Cox’s Bazar district, Bangladesh.

These types of unexpected human right violations have been being perpetrated by Bengali Muslim extremists all over Country in Bangladesh. The minor communities such as Buddhist, Christian and Hindu are passing their days with the fears due to Bengali Muslim extremists in Bangladesh.

The minor communities who live in plane area and hilly area are the followers of Buddhist, Christian and Hindu in Bangladesh. They are seriously disappointed and frustrated for this still ongoing situation. And they are not finding any security for their life due to human right violence of Bengali Muslim extremists in Bangladesh. Bangladeshi Muslims Torch Buddhist Temples, Homes

(COX’S BAZAR, Bangladesh) — Thousands of Bangladeshi Muslims set fire to at least 10 Buddhist temples and 40 homes in anger over a Facebook photo of a burned Quran before authorities restored order.

The situation was under control Sunday afternoon after extra security officers were deployed and the government banned public gatherings in the troubled areas near the southern border with Myanmar, said Nojibul Islam, a police chief in the coastal district of Cox’s Bazar.
He said at least 20 people were injured in the attacks that started late Saturday after a photo of a burned copy of the Muslim holy book was posted on Facebook. The rioters blamed the photo on a local Buddhist boy, though it was not immediately clear if he actually posted the photo.
Bangladesh’s popular English-language Daily Star newspaper quoted the boy as saying that the photo was mistakenly tagged on his Facebook profile. The newspaper reported that soon after the violence started, the boy’s Facebook account was closed and police escorted him and his mother to safety.

Joinul Bari, chief government administrator in Cox’s Bazar district, said authorities detained the boy’s parents and were investigating.
Buddhists make up less than 1 percent of Muslim-majority Bangladesh’s 150 million people.
The Bangladeshi violence follows protests that erupted in Muslim countries over the past month after a low-budget film, “Innocence of Muslims,” produced by a U.S. citizen denigrated the Prophet Muhammad by portraying Islam’s holiest figure as a fraud, womanizer and child molester.
Some two dozen demonstrators have been killed in protests that attacked symbols of U.S. and the West, including diplomatic compounds.

MKA hints at Rohingya link with Ramu violence Monday, October 1, 2012

The government has a report that indicates Rohingyas' involvement with the violence in Ramu and Chittagong, Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir said on Monday.

"The government is aware of Rohingya link with the violence," the minister said replying to queries.

He was talking to reporters after inaugurating a training programme at Armed Police Battalion (APBn) headquarters in the capital.

Mohiuddin said the law enforcers have been asked to keep vigilance in the areas where the Rohingya refugee camps are situated.

They have been instructed to restrict Rohingyas within the refugee camps preventing communication with the local people, he added.

The minister launched the six-week training programme of the newly formed battalion of police titled Special Security and Protection Battalion (SSPBn).

26 arrested for Patia violence

Chittagong, Sep 30 (bdnews24.com)—Police have arrested 26 people on suspicion of attacking Buddhists and Hindu temples at Patia in Chittagong on Sunday. Patia Police Station Officer-in Charge Aminur Rashid told bdnews24.com those arrested are workers of a single shipbuilding firm, Western Marine Shipyard, at Lakhara in the upazila. According to the OC, the shipyard's CCTV footage confirmed the workers were involved with the incident. Many of the arrested confessed to their involvement, he added. A Buddhist temple at Lakhara was attacked and set on fire by a mob of several hundred people who came in a procession around noon. 26 Chittagong firm workers held over attacks

Chittagong, Oct 1 (bdnews24.com)-- Police have detained 26 workers of shipbuilders Western Marine Shipyard in connection with Sunday's attack on Hindu-Buddhist temples in Patia, off Chittagong, prompting the company management to stop work for a day. "The holiday has been declared in the wake of the situation arising out of the arrest of our 26 workers for their alleged involvement in the attacks on Hindu and Buddhist temples," Western Marine Shipyard Managing Director Mohammad Shawakat Hossain told bdnews24.com. He said the overall condition would be discussed at a meeting of the Board of Directors at night. "I hope normal operations of the company will resume from tomorrow (Tuesday)," he added. বৌদ্ধ মন্দিরে হামলা

কক্সবাজার : কক্সবাজারের রামু উপজেলার বৌদ্ধ ধর্মাম্বলী এক যুবক ফেইসবুকে পবিত্র ‘কুরআনের ওপর মহিলার দুই পা’ দেয়া একটি ছবি ট্যাগ করার ঘটনায় উপজেলা সদরসহ আশপাশের এলাকায় সাতটি বৌদ্ধ মন্দির ও অন্তত ২০টি বসতবাড়ি পুড়িয়ে দিয়েছে বিক্ষুব্ধরা।

পরিস্থিতি সামাল দিতে প্রশাসন অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ ও আধা-সামরিক বাহিনী বিজিবি সদস্যদের মোতায়েন করেছে।

জেলা প্রশাসক জয়নুল বারি জানিয়েছেন, এ ঘটনায় কোনো হতাহতের ঘটনা ঘটেনি। ইতিমধ্যে বিজিবির দুই প্লাটুন জওয়ান টহল দিচ্ছে। পরিস্থিতি শান্ত না হওয়া পর্যন্ত টহল অব্যাহত থাকবে। চট্টগ্রাম রেঞ্জ থেকে অতিরিক্ত আরো ৩শ’ পুলিশ সদস্য রোববার সকালে কক্সবাজারে এসে পৌঁছেছে।

প্রশাসন বলছে, তদন্ত করে দেখা হবে কারা এ ঘটনার সাথে জড়িত ও এটি পূর্বপরিকল্পিত কি না। ওই ঘটনায় আরো ৩টি মন্দির ও অর্ধশতাধিক বসতবাড়িতে হামলা, ভাঙচুর ও লুটপাট করা হয়েছে। শনিবার রাত ১১টার দিকে হঠাৎ শুরু হওয়া বিক্ষোভ এক ঘণ্টার মধ্যেই অগ্নিগর্ভ হয়ে উঠে।

রামু সদরের আশপাশের এলাকা থেকে আসা সাধারণ মানুষ বৌদ্ধ মন্দির ও বড়ুয়া পাড়ার বাড়িঘরে আগুন ধরিয়ে দেয়া হয়। ওই ব এলাকায় দমকল বাহিনীর গাড়ি ও দমকল কর্মীদের যেতে দেয়নি বিক্ষোবকারীরা। প্রথমে একটি মিছিল বের হবার পর মিছিলটি বৌদ্ধ পাড়ায় যেয়ে হামলা করে। টানা ৩টা ঘণ্টা ধরে আগুনে পুড়ে যায় বসতবাড়ি ও মন্দির।

পুলিশ, বিজিবি, সেনাবাহিনী ও রামু উপজেলা চেয়ারম্যান সোহেল সরওয়ার কাজলসহ জনপ্রতিনিধিরা চেষ্টা করেও পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনতে পারেননি। তবে রাত দেড়টার দিকে বিজিবি ও রাত ২টার পর সেনাবাহিনী আসার পর পরিস্থিতি স্বাভাবিক হয়ে আসে।

সদর-রামু আসনের সংসদ সদস্য লুৎফুর রহমান কাজল, রামু উপজেলা চেয়ারম্যান সোহেল সরওয়ার কাজল, উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা দেবি চন্দ, ভাইস-চেয়ারম্যান নুশরাত জাহান মুন্নি ও রামু থানার ওসি নজিবুল ইসলাম মাইকে বক্তৃতা দিয়ে বিক্ষুব্ধ মুসলমানদের শান্ত করার চেষ্টা করেন।

রাত ১১টার দিকে রামু চৌমুহনী চত্ত্বরে বক্তৃতা চলাকালেই বৌদ্ধ মন্দিরে হামলা চালায় উচ্ছৃঙ্খল লোকজন। আগুনে পুড়িয়ে দেয়া হয় প্রাচীন বৌদ্ধ মন্দির সীমা বিহার, সাদা চিং, লাল চিং ও আর্য বংশ বৌদ্ধ বিহারসহ ৭টি বৌদ্ধ মন্দির। রামু খিজারি উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়ের কাছেই বড়ুয়া পাড়ায় আগুনে পুড়িয়ে ফেলা হয় ২০টির বেশি বসতবাড়ি।

রামু থানার ওসি নজিবুল ইসলাম ঘটনাস্থলে বিক্ষোভরত জনতার উদ্দেশ্যে বক্তব্য দিয়ে অভিযুক্ত যুবককে গ্রেপ্তারের প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েও পরিস্থিতি শান্ত করতে পারেননি।

স্থানীয় আওয়ামী লীগ নেতা অ্যাডভোকেট নুরুল ইসলাম জানান, রামু সদরের মানুষ এই ঘটনা ঘটায়নি। আশপাশের এলাকা থেকে আসা লোকজনই মূলত বৌদ্ধ মন্দির ও বসতবাড়িতে আগুন দেয়।

ঘটনার কয়েক ঘণ্টা পর রাত ৪টার দিকে ভারপ্রাপ্ত জেলা প্রশাসক জসিম উদ্দিন ও পুলিশ সুপার সেলিম মোহাম্মদ জাহাঙ্গীর ঘটনাস্থলে যান।

অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ সুপার বাবুল আকতার জানিয়েছেন, সম্ভাব্য অপ্রীতিকর ঘটনা এড়াতে রোববার সকাল ৭টা থেকে অনির্দিষ্টকালের জন্য রামু সদর ও আশপাশের এলাকায় ১৪৪ ধারা জারি করা হয়েছে।

অন্যদিকে ফেইসবুকে বিতর্কিত ছবি ট্যাগকারী উত্তম বড়ুয়া পলাতক থাকলেও তার মা ও বোনকে পুলিশ নিরাপত্তা হেফাজতে নিয়েছে।

উল্লেখ্য, উত্তম কুমার বড়ুয়া রামু সদরের বড়ুয়া পাড়া চেরাংঘাটা এলাকার সুদত্ত বড়ুয়ার ছেলে। তিনি তার ফেইসবুক একাউন্টে ‘কুরআনের ওপর মহিলার দুই পা’, আল্লাহু শব্দের বিকৃতি ও পবিত্র কাবা শরীফের ছবিতে ‘কেউ নামাজ পড়ছেন, কেউ পূজা করছেন’ এমন কয়েকটি ছবি ট্যাগ করেছেন।
